Question Does anyone know Sonny1 in PR (fellow rennlister?)

I ask because back in August I made a deal with him for some parts and mailed him a personal check for $475. I had asked him to go ahead and send US Mail parcel post but to make sure he insured just-in-case and he said he sent it and insured it.

Well, after a month went by and it didn't show I asked him to please get the claim processed and get my money back since I held out little hope for the package to show up after a month and he said he did fill out the claim form (I also know the US Post office requires you to wait 30 days before they let you file a claim so I know I was valid in asking for the claim within the specified time)

Anyway, I haven't heard from him now since 10/16/06 when he said he put in the claim already and would follow up that day and keep me posted.

Since that time I've PMed him twice on 10/23 and again yesterday morning ( asking what is going on with ZERO response.)

Am I being too impatient? Am I being irrational in fearing the worst?

I really would love to think there were was just a miscommunication somehow and he got tied up with work or left on a vacation and forgot to mention it to me.

I'm hoping someone else here knows him and has dealt with him and can tell me I have nothing to worry about.

Right now, in my life, $475 is a HUGE amount of money that I don't want to just write off as a total loss so I'm at a loss as to where to go next.

I entered into this transaction with 'trusting' a fellow rennlister. I sure hope I didn't make a misjudgement on this.

Like I said, I'm really REALLY hoping this is a simple oversight somehow on his part and all will be taken care of.

I guess I'm looking for some reassurance from someone else here who might know him personally? (or had a positive transaction with him?)

I don't even know where to go next other than perhaps write him a snail mail letter asking one last time for my refund and status. From there I'm not sure what legal action would be next and/or how difficult that would be given PR vs. me here on the mainland and I don't speak spanish at all either

His last post is this one: https://rennlist.com/forums/showpost...8&postcount=52 on October 9th. I would advise you contact JohnD or Randy V ( I think i read that John is on vacations?) , hopefully they can help.
Good luck to you, I went through the same thing with a seller 4 years ago and lost about $1000 so I know your pain... I sincerely hope this is not the case and this RLister comes through for you.

Most of who were selling ussually just sent it, and waited for the check....
Hell, I sent my old car to Greg, and he paid me later....lol

o.k. Thank you. I will try that as well.

I have a physical address so I could probably find out a phone number but with my luck a phone call would result in all spanish language (acting like no english spoken even if it is as I had this happen to me with someone in Miami who sold me a camera I never got off ebay and never got that $850 back either 5 years ago)

Yes, I've done that a few times myself and actually sent stuff the same time I expected the check to get sent without incident for fellow rennlisters.. Heck, I was stunned once when a fellow rennlister insisted on shipping to me first, insisting on try it out for a while and then either send it back OR pay him..

I'm not sure any of this type of thing will be able to happen in the future with what is happening around here because I know I'm not the only one with issues recently (sad but true)

Too bad you didn't post this last week, I was there with 8 hours to kill and would have checked it out for you. I hope it works out well.

Chris,

Did Sonny1 get back to you? Just saw his post on the 993TT board earlier tonight.

I hope we don't lose the spirit that we had as trusting Rennlisters. I have bought and sold about 10 different items and have not had an issue. Haven't done anything in the last year or so.

Robin Sun set the standard for me and I hope we can maintain that great and trusting attitude here.

Cheers!

Well said Bruce. My experiences also started with Robin, and there's been many others along the way.

Chris,

I had a smooth and simple transaction with Sonny1. I bought the turbo underlouvers from him. I sent the check and he mailed the part at the same time. He was very nice to do biz with. I hope it works out as well for you in the end.

Good luck.

LOL! Wonder how long it takes for a Nigerian bank to process a payment?

Chris, hope it all works out.
