3 spoke 996 steering wheel for 993 tip
Do the shift buttons remain functional?
I am considering the purchase of a tiptronic cab and I am wondering what options I have. I do want to keep the airbag.
TIA

I'm using a 996 three spoke wheel in my TIP cab and I love it. The buttons are functional. The wheel has Momo like grips and the buttons are bigger and easier to use. I can push the buttons without taking my hands off of the wheel. I grab the grips above the buttons and use the bottom of my hand with my wrists to shift. My wheel did not come with the air bag so I bought the factory air bag with a painted crest. It looks very nice.

I am on my fourth steering wheel. Stock to a three-spoke tip to a three-spoke non-tip to a three spoke non-tip leather carbon fiber. I did not like the steering wheel buttons. I shift manually 99.9 % of the time. I would occasionally accidentally hit a button and send the RPM's sky high. Without the buttons and getting rid of the shift plate and putting a shift boot on gives a much cleaner look.

I heard the 996 TIP wheel will not fit a 964. I bought my wheel off of Ebay. I bought it several years ago when they were taking brand new wheels off of 996 TIPs in favor of the carbon fiber wheels.
This allowed me to get a brand new take off. I paid $180.00 for the wheel and the total ripoff price for the air box from the dealership.
