Hey,
I finally got the Escort hardwire kit installed.
I put the mute switch in the ashtray:
Which, when closed, conceals all:
...and the radar unit hangs from the passenger side visor.
I tapped power at the sunroof switch. Grounded to a lug inside the carpeted hump. It fires right up!
Let's see, what's next?.... maybe a one-touch window controller.... hmmm....
Maybe I'll pick a warmer day, though...

Thaddeus great job !! I have the same set up . you have the shifter (lazer defence ) ? I have the shifter and feel pretty confident with the entire package . Especially on those spirited rallys or want to shake off the dust @ north of the 150 mph zone !

The pedals are TechArt ones put on by the PO, although he got the brake and clutch ones reversed
so I had to swap them around (my instep was hanging up on the brake). I added that grip tape because I will be driving this thing with slushy shoes in only a few week's time and I don't want my feet to be slipping. I kind of like the aluminum-and-black look.

The Escort "shifter ZR3 " has three laser transceivers .two front-mounted and one rear license plate mounted laser transceivers .
Quote these highly sensitive transceivers will detect a laser signal and respond (or transmit) a pulsed signal back in order to "Shift " or confuse the targeting laser gun These highly sensitive transceivers must have a clear view of the road and must be installed parallel to the road and aim correctly in order to work properly .

I put the 'Smart Cord' under the dash. I'm going to black-out the power light. It works great at night when I put the 8500 into Dark mode. Only thing I need to see is the big red LED near my tach lightup, and hear the sound. Reach through the wheel and it's quiet. I guess I should snap a pictuer. I hat the way I hung it there with hte velcro but after 8 hours of tinkering with where to run the wires and it being 4 am.. I stuck it under there and called it a day.
Love the Escort. Save me two tickets today alone!![Cheers](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/beerchug.gif)
Just added a realy poor picture of mount location for mine.
EDIT: Geez.. that looks SOOO crappy in the picture. Much more tollerable in normal light and while driving... geez.. I gotta find a better way to mount that.. it's going to drive me nutz now..

Good jog thaddus!!
For you and the other 8500 x50 owners out there, make sure you turn the thing off if you are not driving. I had to send my unit back in for recalibration. the tech support at Escort said that its not good for the unit to sit in the sun or powered up on your dash all day/night. The circuitry creates heats and starts causing calibration to drift ?? - I think that is what he said.....
With that said, I would prefer to see a toggle on your setup so you are not constantly, adjusting volume on the side dial since you are hardwired.....
