Which would you buy?
1996 polar silver 21K miles, no options.
1997 black, 46K miles, loaded with MSP, hi fi, door sills, etc...
The 1996 silver one is 6K more.
I will probaly keep the car for 2 yrs, and then upgrade to a turbo!

If you're certain about the upgrade..buy the one with lower miles...as it will give you the biggest return when you sell it. Then again it depends on how many miles you plan to put on in the two years.

The price discrepency between low and high mileage cars will only increase in the future. Therefore, if you don't plan to put too many miles on it, the silver one will hold its value more. OTOH, if this is a daily driver, save some bucks and get the black one.
IMHO, why bother, if you're only going to sell it so soon? Why not simply wait 2 years and get the turbo?

Some cars are flat worn out after I've driven them for a few years (I take a lot of 4000+ mile road trips each year).
Which one do you *like* most?

The black car is a better deal. The low mileage gives the silver car a $4500 premium (remember $.18/mile depreciation) minus the lack of options, so maybe $3k more. Yet he's asking $6k more. That's because you start paying a premium when you get down near 20k miles. In other words, you'll be taking a big big hit when you put 10k miles on the silver car versus 10k miles on the black one.
But don't forget to factor in service history and mechanical condition.

to me it depends on what you want out of the car..
are you going to continue to put very few miles on the car and spend more time cleaning or looking at it than driving it? are you a show type person? are you one of those people just content to have it in your garage and drive it a few hundred miles or a few thousand miles a year?
OR will you want to drive it every day OR at least 10K miles a year?
those answers should help tell you which you want to buy...

Just look at "theothereric"s 993 Avatar - lowered with a Front and rear end to die for.....opposed to the classic curves / lines. When choosing It's also a matter of when you wake up in the morning and look out the window....do you want to see a beautiful classic 993 or a beast of a 993.....I know which i prefer.

I think black cars are great... when someone else owns them. They are pretty but just way too hard to keep clean to interest me... but that's just me.
If it were me... I'd buy that turbo today. If that's the car you want, finance it. It always costs money to turn cars over... sales tax, the fixins, the aggravation and advertising, not to mention depreciation.

As mentioned by Steve, I'm not a fan of black cars. Look at my sig and you'll see what color Ilike my 993's to be.
Since you're asking, I'd go with the polar silver. But how much are they????? $6,000 more of what? $35K? $40K? $25K? It makes a difference.
