"My counter offer to your counter offer is..." (did you watch Deadwood?)

Look ZP44, pop corn was a joke since so many people started to "eat" it watching this thread.

My point however was and is, when I've driven 150+ mph with my 993 (last time was at Homestead race track btw), my car felt 100% stable with absolutely no uneveness, nervousness or anything to that nature.
I don't think tray has anything to do with car being stable or unstable. As you said, most likely it's your suspension what causes the un-satbleness (is that a word?).

As already many many times noted before, factory race cars didn't have this and if it helped with cooling, making car more stable etc. I'm sure Porsche would've had it in their race cars.

Back to the topic at hand.......should we do a poll on how many Db quieter the top speed runs are with the tray on vs. off?????
Man you are old if you remember Chip as a youngster......But he sure could drive an unlimited......
I still miss the Rolls & Allison engined boats....ah the days of Thunder....I digress.

As far as the topic at hand.....who are we going to get to stand by the road with a DB meter while we blow by at 150+?????..........LOl

I suspect that any high speed instability issues are more relatyed to ride height and suspension than, the tray or lack thereof

Get a good suspension under the car, get it low, and it will be fine

the aero package certainly doesn't hurt either

By the way you all do know that no Cup or factory race car ever used the engine tray?

While indicating 163 at an undisclosed location in Idaho, the car felt pretty good. It was the 4 year old P-Zeros which made me nervous. The car got a lot better with Michelins. Would it have been better with an undertray? damned if I know. I never owned anything else that would get to 160.

When I bought my stock used 993 in '99 the local dealer told me to put a tray on it. I didn't bother. Six months ago when the soon-to-be new owner had a PPI done at the same dealership, they said don't put a tray on it. I doubt even Porsche themselves could provide definitive answers.

LOL! Actually I am trayless, looks like the transmission undertray is gone also. You must have gone so fast at the track that they blew right off!

Yep, I'm old....I was the guy who threw the switch when God said "let there be light".......or, was that The Grand Turtle? Can't remember at my age.....

I think there are lots of candidates here for meter reader.....
