Default Car shutting down when cold???

I park my car in a underground parking, when i start the car i wait about 5 min before leaving. I drive it for about 5 min and stop at a light my RPM goes up and down from 1000rpm and stops after 3-4 sec is it normal???
And also once and a while when i let go of the clutch and put the car in neutral the car shut's down !!

Anyone had this problem before???

Thanks Will

A cleaning of your Idle Speed Valve ISV is necessary.
here is the link for a Do-It-Yourself, I would suggest you replace brake cleaner in the article, with carburator cleaner, here is the link

all should be Ok after. Just mention Robin in your prayers when done. . .

Is there a reason you wait 5 min after starting the car? I've always heard/read Porsche doesn't recommend you do that. They want you to drive it right away but keep the revs under 4k until the oil temt gets to the first mark. It has something to do w/ needing the oil pressure up for ??

I've heard to NOT let it idle and to drive the car immediately after starting from my mechanic as well (keeping under 4K until temp is reached).

I think the quick drive off is the standard recommendation for nearly all car manufacturers and is emissions related: the faster the cat converters can heat up, the more effective they'll be in reducing emissions.

Actually on the pre 964 911's I think it was more oil pressure related. I just don't remember the exact part it was concerned with.
