LPMM:GS1 - with a twist .... NB wide oval tips on a WB
..... a twist it was: 180 degrees to be exact .....
I just finished a 'double' mod today: the first step of which was to successfully fit a set of factory NB wide ovals (EP5110's) to a WB car ..... and it worked. The action was to cut off the Bischoff outlet pipe and rotate it 180 deg before rewelding. The principle behind this is that the extra width of the WB cars is ~35mm/side - and that becomes the offset of the connector of any WB exhaust tip from the corresponding centered connection on a NB tip.
As all NA cars use the same mufflers (TT's being the exception), I measured the 'S' bend horizontal offset of the outlet pipe: happily, it was 17mm - or 1/2 of the required offset, but in the wrong direction ....ergo .... cut and rotate 180 deg = ~35mm net offset in the correct direction to allow NB tips to fit a WB. .
A small stainless sleeve was inserted into the cut ends to avoid a pure butt joint weld, but it was otherwise quite straightforward. The pics tell a better story.
Step #2 was to reinforce the two outlet pipes with a bridge connector .... a 'carrying handle' if you like ... . This handle was a section of 1.5"/38mm stainless pipe, which was carefully saddle cut over two matching oval holes - and Mig welded in place.
This carrying aid is otherwise known as a LPMM bypass ... Thanks Leland
The net result is a LPMM further modified to accept NB tips on a WB C4S ... or a LPMM:GS1 for short ...
The wide ovals look far, far better than the original tips - and the ripping music now screaming from those megaphones is pure Porsche delight!
For those with WB cars wanting wide ovals, this may be of interest as there are a couple of good sources for NB tips ( as low as ~$50) - but none I found for WB cars.

I was alluding to the wide oval knock-offs that corvettec5dude is selling on ebay - they look to be of good quality .... and there are two active threads on them currently - a group buy and a possible production of offset tips for the WB.
As the factory NB tips were already available, I just couldn't help myself .....
Andreas,
That sleeve dimension and positioning was scientifically calculated to force more flow through the bypass to enhance acoustic performance ...
