993 Tech Session, South Bay, SoCal @ Tony Callas..
Rennsport Call Rennsport . Tony had a 993 Tech session about 2 years ago, on a Saturday no less. In the course of the the session, Tony pointed out the Varioram vacuum rubber fitting that has collapsed on many a 993 car. Lots of us either replaced our fitting, or did a fix such as a brass insert or a spring.Tony is also very knowledgable about valve guides on the 993 and the infamous CEL problems we have seen.
Tony, for those of you that don't know, was the Crew Chief on the Reiser Callas 993 RSR privateer car Reiser Callas Racing that shook up the factory teams in the late 90's. He still does some contract Crew Chief work. I have shared some pit space with Tony and his customers: They do not go wanting for anything.
I believe the LA PCA Region hosted the event...if someone is connected to that region, perhaps they can make a call to see if we can get a 993 Tech Session going.
And finally, note I receive no compensation for this post. Tony stepped up to support us 993 owners in the past; he is ready for another 993 technical session. If the interest is there, he will dedicate his time and that of a mechanic, to do it.
Note 11/26/06: Pacific Porsche, our local agencies parts department will be raffling off door prizes and will prepare gift bags for everyone. Terry Wells from PMNA is planning on attending and has mentioned that he will come up with some neat giveaways such as posters. Steve Alarcon from Johnsons Alignment and Suspension Specialties will be attending for question & answer on wheel alignment, aggressive street and track use for the 993. John Brown from Wheel Enhancement will be attending for question & answer on wheels and tires.

It was the best tech session I've ever attended. I'll be there for sure if he does another one. Tony is a super guy, and knows these cars in great detail.

Would you like me to try to see if I can get one together with Tony for the Rennlist guys? I THINK I still can get him to listen to me

Let's get more folks involved...
As a POC Member and PCA Member, let's be certain that these folks are invited. December 9th sounds good to me...is this event locked and loaded? If so, I'll make an announcement on the POC website. Maybe we can get the Grand Prix PCA Region involved too.

I'd put in a BIG vote for anyone contemplating attending one of Tony's tech sessions.
While I've not had the pleasure of attending, he is absolutely one of THE sharpest people I know in this business and his words of knowledge & experience are well worth heeding. If I was closer, you'd see my mug there, as well.

I may still be stuck in R Can Saw, but we remain members of the Grand Prix Region. I can let Skip Carter (Prez/Editor) know when there's a firm date and then he can advertise the event in the newsletter.
