If it looked slightly deflated, I guarantee it had lost more than 5lbs...
I took my motorcycle out for a spin yesterday. The tyres looked ok, local petrol station is less than 1/2 mile from the house, headed there to fill up and check tyre pressures. I braked at the first corner I came to, front end of the bike is all over the place. Proceeded gently up the road to the station, check the (seemingly inflated) front tyre with my handy-dandy-digital gauge - 17.5lbs. Normal pressure should be 36lbs.
If the rim has caused the damage, when you dismount the tyre, the rubber inside the sidewall will be cracked and deformed, and look as if it had been folded over on itself.
