Guys,
Just an update, my Powerflex order was never completed so I returned the one set of bushings sent for a full refund. Bimmerworld was fine with credit refund. And after seeing the post by the French member (Jason's link), I decided not to use anything but OEM arms if the bushing gets torn.

Where did you take the car? You can PM me.

I just completed a front bushing install (Pflex) yesterday and will be writing a DIY for it. Took lots of pics etc. It is a lot of work getting the old ones out being careful not to dig into the aluminum etc.

Cool There are the front bushings and the rear..

My guy, Guy's Independent in San Luis Obispo, is having some front bushings machined for me out of Delrin stock. The fronts were flexing quite a bit, the rears seemed OK. I let you know how it goes.

martin: Why did you go with delrin? It is a high modulus plastic that does not give that much. Completely stiff compared to polyeurthane which is what pflex is made out of - I think... Of course you are track minded so maybe you dont want any float...

Chris: Let us know how the pflex works out. Im curious if they are noisy compared to the original rubber. Did you use any grease or anything? I look forward to hearing your writeup. Also, ~ how much was the cost of bushes + shipping from UK.

Either of you guys have any driving impressions yet?

Chris,
Where did you get the bushings? If made them, can you run another set?
Thanks

Be very careful with Delrin bushes. The bush center hole alignment needs to be perfect and do get a few sets in stock.
A few serious track sessions will wear the bush centers and bush replacement
will be needed.
Not too bad for a 993 that is trailered to the track but not for road use !

This bushing kit I used this weekend is Powerflex, which is a bit of a ironic name for a bushing company, dont you think?

I used the 'grease' supplied with the kit. Virtually no instructions. I'll fix that

Car is still on stands as I have a lot of other work going on as well..

Powerflex bushings are carried by:

BIMMERWORLD
1210 Grove Avenue,
Radford
VA-24141
tel: 540 639 9648
email: info@bimmerworld.com
web: BIMMERWORLD

If that doesn't work, try the other distributors here.

Got mine from Bimmerworld. A year later and they're holding up fine. I'd like to lubricate them, but I'm not sure it's possible at all.

Why? do they squeak?

What was the ~cost from bimmerworld? Thought I would ask to keep their phones from ringing off the hook from fellow rennlisters...

No, they don't squeak or anything; I'm just thinking about preventive maintenance. I have no complaints at all, and I want to keep it that way!

The set from BW was under $200 total.

Hi,

I noticed sort of a delayed turn in response entering high speed sweepers at my last track event. Checked my bushings this past weekend and there is a lot of movement with hardly any pressure on the control arm. I was thinking of ERP monoballs as a replacement but the car stills sees some street duty. The Powerflex option seems like a better solution.

The instructions I have read seem way too easy. Tips from anyone who has actually done the job would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Brian

Brian,
The tricky bit is getting the old steel sleeves out. Just dont rush at it and its all
pretty easy !
