993 motor sound (on 996)
I know, wrong board to ask , but, if I ask on the 996 board for sure I'll get crucified
It seems that I (you) can buy a nice 99 or 00 996 cheaper than a 97 or even a 98 993. However aside from the "ugly" headlights the 996 just doesn't have the right 911 sound. they sound like a split manifold 61 chevy
Do you think that a 996 can be made to sound like a 993....

Ye$ But why?
If you want the 993 sound, just buy a nice 993. It will hold it's value better than the 996 in the long run.

It can sound way better than a 993 if you get some OE sports exhausts and I am biased towards 993! Robin Sun who does the 993 RSR exhausts that are popular is working on a similar project for 996 so you might want to chase him through his p-car web site. Best noise of all goes to the 964 with various bypass pipes and we have to work very hard to get anything interesting.

BTW, the 996 RSR system is now ready! After 5 revisions and 4 month road test. Personaly I love the sound for everyday use, the exhaust tone matches the 996 character very well.

OK, not looking so good for the early 996's, ah I'm not too wild about the watercooled engine and the "Boxter" look headlights anyway........back to the drawing board.....
