Default HELP: Inner CV boot replacement kit

Hi,

My outer CV boots are torn, so I'll be replacing them. However, my inner boot is torn as well and last I heard there was a potential kit being developed by someone. Is there any such kit yet??? Or do i still have to replace the axle?

Thanks in advance for the help.

For a C2, if you are talking about this kit: 928-332-293-02-M60; it works for either inner or outer.

The p/n is for the boot. The clamps and grease are similar.

Boots are less than $6 from Pelican. Sometimes you can reuse the folded tab straps, if you are careful. Any name brand CV joint grease will work just fine, which can be found at any parts store. Good luck!!

Forgot to mention that sometimes the inner joint is tough to pull off (once the circlip is removed). A three jaw puller and a soft hammer will help if this is the case. Some just slide off, others are a bear.

You only need to replace the entire axle if the outer joint is damaged, the boots on the both sides can be replaced no problem. In the 964 DIY forum there are two articles, CV joint disassembly tips please! and Addendum to "CV joint disassembly tips please!" . There is also a great thread on Pelican, 993 Howto: 60K CV joint servicing.

Yeah, I know this is an old thread. I just changed inner and outer boots on one side. Took three hours. Needed a 3 jaw puller to get the inner joint off the shaft. I did not take the axles out of the car. The pelican thread is pretty good at letting you know what to expect.
