I wave at all p-cars except the Cayenne's. Funny, I waved at a guy in a red 993 the other day in a parking lot. All I got in return was a why the F are you waving at me look. Very unlike most p-car people, but I guess there are aholes everywhere, even in 993's!

Older 911 guys usually respond with a finger lift.

I see 3 or so 993-997's a day, I wave, no response.

Boxters, no response.

Peppers look at you like they should know you, but don't

944 guys always respond and with a smile too.

928 guys are always glad to see another one on the road.

If I ever see a CGT on the road, I will make every attempt to chase him down and make him smile at me.

Same experience here, I wave at everything but Cayennes. Probably won't wave at Panameras, too :-)

I had a kid at the school bus stop wave at me today (no, I don't wave at kids who aren't mine), hopefully I'm setting the hook in his brain so he'll fly right :-)

Us front engined water-coolers have to stick together. I parked next to a later 70's 911 the other day at the store, and the guy was leaving at the same time as me but he refused to even look at me. I got one single scowl from him, probably upset that I parked anywhere near his car way out in back of the parking lot.

yep, I try to wave to all I see, and I echo the sentiments on here. 924/944/928 folks wave back, most 911 do, all the late model stuff ignores me (probably think my 993 is some sort of VW!)

I wave at every p-car I see and if I get one back it's a bonus. A Porsche in central Illinois is still a relatively rare sighting and chances are good that your are waving to another local PCA member. So most wave. I wave at Cayenne's but have yet to get one to waive back. The other day I was pulling into a parking lot as an older SC was pulling out and we passed, made eye contact, I wave, and she never blinks, waves, nothing. Very strange. But I've also had Boxster and 944 owners wave and give thumbs up. So to each there own. I'd say there are owners and there are enthusiasts. We are obviously the latter.

Strangely, I still wave at Jeep Wranglers out of habit from owning one for years. Most wave back and if your are in a Jeep few ever miss the chance. Probably the friendliest group of enthusiasts I've seen.

I wave to any air-cooled P-car (with both hands if older than 1973)...I wave back to the water cooled "sport" P-cars...

I wave to all P-cars - air and H20-cooled, but few wave back. Maybe it's just too hot to wave. Go figure. A few weeks ago, I waved at a 914 and the guy was soooo excited I thought he was gonna hurt himself waving back.

Sounds like what I wrote above..lol

A few weeks ago I'm on the highway in flowing traffic going about 50 or 60. I hear something like an airplane jet pull up alongside me. I was like WTF is this..I look over to the right and there's a kid with a WRX smiling from air to air giving me the thumbs up. I motion to him how good his exhaust sounded and hi it t for me to hear. As soon as he got an opening he took off like a bat out hell..omg..the sound of his car was something else. I eventually caught him and gave him the thumbs up; he excelerated got off the next exit ramp...with lights flashing and hands waving through the sunroof. It was so kewl..lol..big kids..eh.. appreciating there cars....

I always wave to all Porsche drivers, but never get responses from cayenne owners.

The most enthusiastic responses are from the 924/928/944 owners.

And the most enthusiastic greeting I ever got while in my 928 was from some dude in a very old, very vintage, very well cared for Mercedes convertible.

True car guys always recognize quality.

I do a fair amount of distance travelling. It never fails - two or three Peppers before I'll see anyone in a 911/996/997 - if ever. Where is everyone and their wonderful 911s? Waxing? An enthusiastic wave from another 964 owner is all can recall in the last 15k miles.

I waved to a 968 yesterday and he just stared at me. Boxters rarely wave back. Women never wave back. Most + response seemes to come from the older (air cooled) 911 based cars, but that could be because they notice me since I am one of them.

Actually, I spend over 2.5 hours, commuting just about 85 miles round trip per day in my 993. I wave to many, many, many people. Only p-cars get the other 4 fingers though.
