whats this 993 worth
before i make my final offer, what do guys think this is worth:
1997 c4s
arctic silver
black leather sport seats
motor sound package
rear wiper
cd changer
door sills
4K clutch job, lightened flywheel and pressure plates
brakes are new, but car hasnt been driven for 6 months, so some light corrosion on rotors.
60K Miles or 100K KM
3rd owner, says mechanically 9/10, estetically 7.5/10
60K service is not done, I have to pay for that....
needs 2 new rear tires.
any thoughts.

heres why 7.5:
2 rims have some rash: $400 to resurface them.
front bumber has stone chips (normal)
drivers seat has a small stain........
it just needs a little love.

I would suggest you make a deal that's $42-45K and he pays the 60K service
or $38K out the door. See if it has records of all services done
Get a (PPI) inspection by a good qualified shop or dealer before you make any decision, Good luck, Chris

I paid $39.5 for a 1996 C4S in very similar condition, though with 76k miles, 9 months ago. It was $36.5 but added $3k for a new clutch. I also had them respray the front bumper due to numerous chips (which really showed on Midnight Blue), 2 rims had rash. I had to buy new rear tires after I finished driving it home 1,050 miles. Car had sport seats, cd changer, hi-fi sound, some added leather, new brakes all around and front rotors, but just motor sound airbox. Car had complete records, but it was due for most 60k service items. I changed spark-plugs, O2 sensors, fuel filter, pollen filters, oil and oil filters, the head temperature sensor, and still need to change the distributor rotors and caps. Because of Rennlist and p-car.com I have been able to DIY all of these things, and a few other minor problems, and I probably only spent $450 on parts. So far there have been no unforseen issues. If this car passes PPI, no problems with AC (evaporator) or SAI!!! then I think $40k would be a good deal for you. The C2S and C4S wide-bodies command a significant premium, I would think a normal bodied coupe might fetch closer to $32k. At least with the C4S you're also getting big reds. Having owned C4S for 9 months now, worth every penny...

From my experience, for any porsche transaction, I would ask the owner if he doesn't mind a quick visit to the dealer.
Take an appointment
Ask for an estimate, mechanical only.
I know here in europe it will cost you zero, I don't know across the atlantic if its the same.
This way you will be sure what should be done to the car.
After your dealer estimate (usually takes half an hour) you will have an idea, both of you, where the price spread should be.
The downside is that if the car is clear, the seller will not lower the price on negotiations,
but you will be minimizing your risk for surprizes

its in canada, where the market is different. Its more expensive becuase there are not many on the market.....he was asking 55K cad, i offered 48K as is pending ppi...he accepted.
If I buy one in the US, I have to pay shipping, and 6% duties and 1K in paper work to bring it in.
