Sweeeeet! The 993 is in a class of its own. The 997 S, C4S, TT are the latest & greatest from Porsche and outperforms the latter series as expected. I would love any of these (esp. TT) in my garage, don't get me wrong (but next to my 993).

My friend, you just described my exact same impression of the Cayman S.
I haven't driven a 997S just yet. I hope to remedy that at the next Porsche Factory Drive.
But I suspect I will feel the same way as you.

BTW, while at a special 2006 USGP Dinner held at the Indianapolis Zoo by a Local Porsche Dealer, their guest speaker Vic Elford (porsche Factory Racing Legend) had commented of his impression of the Cayman S. He loved it and as a hardcore 911 fan would consider buying it over a 911 (esp. emphasized how well it handled and the trunk space was a big plus to him). LOL!

If that were true we would all be driving C6 Corvettes or something else.

Nice review, it's always great to hear candid first hand impressions. That said...
Hm. My next door neighbor has a 997S, and I have never confused the sound with my F430.
I agree with this statement more, although it doesn't seem to jibe with your first comment.
In any case, your 993 is one of my favorite all-time engineering works of art, and I must admit I love the 997 also, and am eagerly awaiting first hand reports like yours of the 997 GT3.

But admittedly it may have been a less than accurate and imprecise...so I will defer to anyone who has both cars
thanks for the thoughts!
