Hi guys my 95 c4 cab cel does not come on when i start the car i checked the bulb and its good is there a way to disconnect the light i tried to scan with innova 3100 scanner and keep getting error it won't scan i read about the sai in the fourm and the oil use but my seems fine about 1 litre every 2000 miles any ideas.

Hi,

The 1995 cars have a different on-board diagnostic (OBD I) than the 96 and later. It may be you have the wrong reader.

I can't speak for the behavior of your CEL lamp. Maybe someone that owns a 95 can.

The SAI is an issue with the newer cars (1996 and later) that is more symptomatic than a real issue. Unless your local government requires a smog check. For your car that is not the case.

Your oil consumption is about normal. When you start using a liter every 1200 to 1500 miles it may indicate wear on the valve guides. Many things can cause oil consumption, including leaks, so oil consumption is only one of many symptoms you can use to tell if your car may have an issue.

In your case it sounds like you are fine. Quebec! Has it started snowing yet?

Your CEL should come on when you turn the ignition on and then off when the engine starts (I just checked with mine).

HI marv thanks for the info and no it hasn't started snowing yet but it won't be long. Thanks also am993 my light does not come on changed the bulb still nothing could something be disconnected.
