Help with a C4 Purchase
I am looking at a 95 C4, 54k miles, Coupe, 6 speed, 3.6 L and apparently in great condition. I will be having a PPI done prior to purchase. Any C4 owners (or not) can comment on this year and model? Should I be especially aware of anything?
Price on this vehicle is $35k. Price appropiate? Any input would be appreciated.

I would suggest that you be very specific about your PPI. Have them include a compression test as well as a leak down check. Have them check the 4 wheel drive for proper operation as well, pull the wheels, check brakes, have them really go through the thing from stem to stern. In otherwords, have them do more than just a safety check. My C4 is currently at 66k and drives and looks like a new car.

i have a 95 c4 and it has been my favorite porsche to date.
if that car is a good color and in nice condition, 35k is a good place to start.
dont be affraid to make a serious offer if it checks out.

95 993 design received numerous journal accolades. I wish I had the article that listed the awards the 95 picked up that year. May have been in Panorama or Christophers. In any case, $35K is a good price, do a carfax for what that is worth and drive it hard with the AC on. At 54k miles, you are close to replacement shocks and clutch and possibly brakes and certainly valve adjustmant with the 60k tune up.
Be very cautious, you will love the car.
As far as price, I think $36k is a little high based on no other information on the car-upgrades, tires, brakes, PPI, ect.
Check to make sure the wiring harness has been replaced-there was a recall.

Have a good look at the brakes as it's about time for rotors if they haven't been done yet. Depending on how the previous owners have driven it you might be thinking about a clutch soon. You'll also want to check the window seals around the windshield and rear window. I think the 96 and on got different paint with a clear coat. Mine is getting a little road rash up front but then I drive the heck out of it every day and have decided I'll respray when need be. The 95 C4 is a great car and the asking price is in the ball park. Good luck.
I have a 1995 C4 Cab. now with 110 k miles no valve problem what so ever original clutch but syncro a little tired will replace this winter Lowered the suspension @ 106k miles . Just make sure you get rid of engine heat shield
and keep the speedometer & rpm way up and enjoy . Btw i paid 25k US for mine and threw in roughly another 6k in suspension n cosmetic stuff (new roof and HID and new light lens all around ) .
