I'm at 134500 and rock solid reliable. I drive like a 16 year-old, and do preventative maintenance religiously. My cost of ownership has been fairly high up until now, because of the slippery slope. Nothing has broken at all....

As also asked by herman maire, those of you that have personally put a lot of miles on your car with no issues.....what kind of oil are you using? I know that the chemistry of oils has change over the years, but I am still interested.

Thanks. I completely understand, and no offense taken. I was just thinking that since the parts go back to Bilstein itself for the rebuild, should be fine? I've also read that some owners have sent parts in to be custom re-valved and tuned specifically for their cars, so that would likely be even better than an off-the-shelf part.

Here's a bit on that:

I'll have to look into it, sometime down the road.

BTW, how did the new brakes feel at 225K miles?! (maybe a better question would be; How did the old brakes feel at 225K miles?)

Thanks for posting all the details about your experience with the car.

Do you downshift engine brake a lot?

brakes at 225K felt fine...but at service, told near wear indicator and didn't want to push it.

new pads/rotors were/are a problem that seems to be getting better...there was a bit of a shimmy with braking from 60ish to 40...and I thought they may be warped a bit. in addition, when coming to a stop...they would 'ring'...not the typical sqeaks I've grown accustomed to with porsches brakes over the years...but more of a constant ring. seems to be slowly getting better.

yes...downshift quite a bit...to slow and so engine doesn't lug...like sitting close to 3800-4000. dropping down a gear usually seems to bump rpm's up around 1000.

Only 77k on mine. Everything seems tight and solid. No leaks. Original clutch. Just need to replace my ABS control module.
