Ventilated rear bumper cover

While adjusting my rear sway bars I noticed that the rear bumper cover of the driver's side is showing signs of melting. I was shocked, as I had never seen this on any car, or mentioned here. I looked at the passenger side and it is showing signs of heat as well. though not as noticeable. I got home and did a search and see it has happened to others before.
I'm obviously getting to much heat back there. I track the car and have RSR mufflers (although I would expect the free-flowing RSR's to be better about getting rid of their heat), the heat shields are in place. I expect that it happened because I came in and let the car heat-soak on the tarmac; I had to run back out and instruct rather than driving around and letting it cool off.
Does anyone besides RUF make a ventilated rear bumper cover that will fit a NB 993? If the only choice is the RUF I'll probably DIY some vents and put on a new cover when I quit tracking the car, or sell it.

Is your engine tray still on? also are you sure that all the heat shielding is in place, there is usually some on the exhaust pipes themselves, which often don't seem to be moved over when RSR's are installed.

i have the same problem, been looking for a while. it appears that a DIY is the way to go.
The dark gray is TomW's car(hope you don't mind posting these Tom)
It would be nice if the 996GT2(yellow) or tt bumbpers fit our cars

Hi Bill,
Do you or Tom W have a picture a little father away so that we can see a bit better? It looks pretty good. Don't RUF do something like this or am I imagining things?
Cheers,
David

I don't mind at all.
You don't need expensive new bumper covers. The shop simply cut out parts and then fiberglassed in a screen. It serves two purposes: (1) lets the air out so the rear bumper cover doesn't serve as a sail that you have to pull alone as you go down the straight and (2) lets heat out.
As you can see, I have "slits" along each side and part of the rear has also been removed with another screened section in the license plate area.

I have had the same issues with heat build up after track time. My "hips" are hot to the touch, about 130 degrees! I also have RSR mufflers, with no engine tray and with heat shields in place. Those vents would probably help. Thanks for the discussion
