I'm keen to know how to reprogram the tranny to downshift back to first in manual mode when you come to a stop.

Otherwise I cant fault it in any way.

I have thoroughly explored the embedded programs in the tiptronic eprom.
There are 5 programs.
3 programs are for normal driving.
2 programs for sport.

I have re-programmed one of them to do what you said.
It was a pain in the neck.

In fact all the programs do shift the tranny to first if the car is inclined (nose up) at a 4'degree level and more.

But if the car is at horizontal, and the car shifts to first on a stop, you should apply a far more amount of force on the brakes than in second. Try it in manual.
This is particularily hectic in dense traffic-jam

The big problem is when in first and you stop in a down-sloping road, then you will find yourself really braking.

I quickly restored the original prog. back
