Dave, I will be talking to them today or tomorrow. So far what I'm hearing is both good and bad. The weight of an 18x9 wheel will be in 19-20 lb range. However, they might need an order of 400 wheels.

100 sets is a lot of wheels...

Wow...100 sets...hmmm...would need to be one hell of a group buy...

but the weight is about right that means an 18X10 is probably 21-22 which is less than the MY02 5-spoke.

Curious about your HWFMR handle.."cold climate rep"..is that cause you are in Boston?? I lived in Wayland for 4 years.

Submitted my HWFM essay...I am awaiting his Grand poo-butt's blessing??? between spankings from MS

Just curious why the Ruf wheels are so heavy considering they are all about speed and performance. They do narrow bodies for higher top ends but their wheels are like anchors???? Best looking wheels for the 993 imo.

Speedline wheels are not light generally, RUF wheels are no exception.

They are very sturdy, though.

Mike,

i'd be interested in another set of wheels. how much do you think they would go for? and what offsets are you contemplating.

for what its worth here are some ideas:

- 18x9 et 32 or 18x8.5 et45
- 18x10 et 65

what are you thinking of? i'd like to get it to the point where the front will fit a 245 and the rear a 285 on a stock fender (with perhaps some rolling).

Cheers,
Boris

Hollowspokes are 5-6lbs lighter than the solids -

ET52 - 19.95 lb front
ET65 - 23.36 lb rear (Narrowbody)
ET40 - 25.13 lb rear (Widebody)

Solids:

ET52 - 25.57 lb front
ET65 - 29.32 lb rear (Narrowbody)
ET40 - 31.08 lb rear (Widebody)

While lighter wheels are easily the best for acceleration, handling and track maneuverability, heavier wheels are more stable in a straight line at high speed. Not sure if it's compounded by centrifugal effect, but at Autobahn speeds (which I think RUF cars are primarily designed for) heavier feels more planted (and safe).

Mike,

Yeah, how much would the wheels be?

100 wheels would be an epic group buy.

Hard to tell, guys. I'll try to talk to them by the end of this week and see what teh reality is.

100 sets of wheels... is a bit too many for my blood. But we'll see what can be done.
