Question Oil Filters: Hastings, no longer Mahle

The oil filters, i.e., OEM, now at my dealer are made in the USA. I believe they are Hastings. They clearly are not Mahle or Mann. Does anyone know anthing about the quality of the Hastings filters being sold as OEM?

When I did my first oil change a couple of months ago, I ordered my filters online. I got the Mahle tall filter, but all they showed for the short filter was a Hastings (HALF173). The short filter that I got said HALF173 on the box, but it didn't look as short as the picture on the website where I ordered it. It also wasn't short enough to fit in the short filter space. Maybe they didn't send me the right Hastings filter, or maybe the Hastings filter doesn't fit the short filter location. All I know is, I'm not buying Hastings online again. As to whether the Hastings filter is a quality filter, I can't say.

For WIX you want a 51285...also the same as NAPA Gold filter...Purolator Pure One filters are very high quality also...both the WIX/NAPA and Purolator filters have the proper anit-drainback valve and are more the capable of withstanding high pressures and high heat.
