Would a set of Ruf 19" wheels, originally set up for the 986 Boxster fit a 993 Turbo?
According to their site, the wheels are the same size, but use a different spacer. Without ever having seen the back of these wheels in person, and having no experience with spacers, is the spacer something that is welded in or is it easily swappable with the recomended size one?
Ruf calls for a 7mm front and 21mm rear spacer for the boxster and 28mm rear only for the turbo.
Would I be able to leave the front spacer and swap out the rear easily?
While I can't attest to the sizes, the rest of your data is correct... Ruf builds only one offset for their wheels and uses a spacer for the rear for the turbos. The spacer simply bolts on to the hub using the original studs and different nuts. The spacer carries its own new studs for mounting the wheel, and you use the original lug bolts for those. Very simple.
IMHO, spacers are a nono coz it moves the stress points outwards. Could cause a fracture of suspension components..
In many cases, yes. In this case though, Ruf wheel plus Ruf spacer equals (in offset) the Porsche WB wheel. The suspension does not "see" any different offset or loading between the two.
