Default How does one erase the fault codes on these cars?

That's it. Need a 'hammer' or is there another way?

I think it would depend on the code. If it's a generic code any OBD2 code reader can erase.

Unhooking the battery won't do it? PS, mine's OBDI (1995)

If you just want to erase it for now you can go to a local napa or auto zone or pep boys and have your code scanned. They have the ability to erase at the same time. Just a suggestion.

Since your '95 993 is almost certainly OBD1, one goes to Ray's DIY diagnostic circuit thread and gets in on my circuit board group buy, then solders together a diagnostic inteface and gets Doug's free software that will read/reset codes. It's complicated, but cheap. And you don't have to talk to the dealer.

I was hoping for something that would help me right now. And if you saw the last circuit board I assembled, you wouldn't suggest it anyway. Either it wouldn't work at all, or it would cause my car to catch fire, or it would start acting as the first SkyNet node. But maybe I'll go that route later...
