wow. Is that the highest it got? and just a aux fan? I wonder how high or low an extra oil cooler would be. The highest I've seen in trafic is a tad above 9 o'clock. I hate it when it gets above the first tick mark.

You've got to love those 106F afternoons in Dallas!!!!! Yuk!!!!!

I hate looking at my external temp gauge driving home from work. It been over 100F every day for the past couple of weeks.

Love your screen name, but that's because I look at the real thing every day..................

Here in SD all we need is to do is remove the engine tray and we see the same type of temp readings since we have those nice ocean breezes to cool our 993's...................

By the way, the only thing 106.5 here is a radio station....................................ZP44

Hmmm, I think my fan has died all together, I got up to 9 o'clock yesterday on a 30min drive home at about 85F ambient.

Is there a procedure to test the fan opperation?

That's funny, because my first thought when seeing the pictures was, "Nice rings. "

Taking the thread hi-jack one step further..... (took a picture of mine this weekend)

Not to hi-jack a hi-jacked tread but is that a leather covered dash. Does the stiching on the edge mean leather covered.

Sorry Tks

Have a shop plug in the PST (Porsche System Tester) to check for both low and high speed fan activation. I had the same concern and sure enough....my low speed resistor is shot (and not working at all). I bet that's your issue as under the same conditions I once saw 10 o'clock (stopped dead in traffice for 30 min). I'm having it replaced and the high speed override switch added at the same time. It's a bit of a pain since the font clip has to come off.

Question? If the oil temp never gets above 212 degrees how will the water that condenses in the engine and makes it's way in to the oil boil off?

You can also test this in your garage by jumping the relay connections. Check out the high speed fan switch upgrade in the p-car.com DIY section. All you need a a short piece of wire and about 5 minutes.
