I am looking at a C4S with 60,000+ miles. Car has been well maintained, but the miles are higher than I wanted. I intend to use it as a near daily driver. Any concerns with that many miles? How many problem free miles can I expect if I continue to maintain the car well? Thanks for any input.

Man that thing isn't even broken in yet! I just turned 107K. See's track time, city traffic and everything in between. If its a nice car at the right price, buy it, 60K's not alot of miles especially if it'll be a driver.

Don't mean to hijack this thread but I've got a similar question- I'm a recenbt convert from the 964 forum and have been looking for a nice 993. I came across a '95 C2 with less than 30k miles that looks pristine. The seller is looking for 39K- now I've read other threads that essentially say pay a little more up front for a nice , low mileage example and it will be repayed at resale time. I'm not so much interested in flipping a car as I am knowing that if circumstances change I can recoup my "investment" and I just don't want to grossly overpay now. From what I learned from my 964 KBB, NADA, Edmunds et al are nearly useless for determining the value of a nice example. I need some advice based on your knowledge of the 993 market. I put on about 4K miles a year, and yes, can be **** retentive when it comes to maintenance and condition. Thanks.

Thats high for a 95 IMO even with the low miles, but if it is PRISTINE, then maybe.....? You either spend alot up front (having gone over it prior to purchase with a fine comb), or you spend less and take chances on repair bills. I took the later, and bought a high miles car. I am not worried to much about it. I drive it, track it and enjoy the hell out of it. It gets maintenance, but I don't "fret" over every little thing. It has been a wonderful car.....money spent has been because I wanted to not had to, and thats the way I like my cars.

If you want a garage queen, go for low mileage. If you plan to use it as a daily driver, go cheaper (higher mileage) and save some money every month for repairs to come.

FWIW I just spent 39K on my 95 with 46k miles, but it has the full aero kit, PSS9's, upgraded sways, Sparco race seats, harness bar, harnesses, chip, exhaust, 100 cell cat, and a bunch of other goodies.

I think I got a deal!

Bought a '96 C4S with 78K miles, full records, as a daily driver. 6 months, 6k miles later, I'm still grinning ear to ear. If you intend to drive daily, there's no reason to pay the premium for low mileage, which seems exaggerated if you ask me. Make sure the price reflects the mileage, and that the car has been well maintained and laugh yourself silly. These cars should drive a long way if properly maintained. Why own one and never get to drive it, go high mileage... see you at 200k.

That car is say ten years old? That's a low 6k per year mileage.... 60k is nothing; we are not talking about some crappy Ford or Chevy.

I bought my 95 C4 Coupe with 57K miles for 33K. Pristine. And I am going to drive it for as long as I can move my left leg to depress the clutch. 60K miles is nothing if maintenance is kept up.

So, I read all the replies to my earlier post, packed up my tools and a jack and headed to NY to take a look at the car. It was everything the seller said and more- just under 23,000 miles, one small chip in the hood only an eagle perched in a tree 10 feet away could see, small steering wheel wear in a spot. 18" turbo twists with big reds. Was even able to talk the owner down a couple thousand from his asking price....

In an earlier post I mentioned I'm a recent 964 convert- owned a mint 91 Targa- a wonderful car. The thing that surprised me was how different the 993 was from the targa in driving feel and overall fit and finish. Aside from the obvious targa versus coupe structural issues the ride on the 993 is much more compliant, even with 18" wheels.

Driving up the Taconic State Parkway at dusk, the windows and sunroof open, running it up through the gears- it just doesn't get any better than this.
