Default How long before battery discharges?

I'm going away for 3 weeks-
do I need to leave the car on a trickle charger while gone?

You don't, but it wouldn't hurt. Or when you get back, throw it on a trickle charger for a night.

Thanks.
I'm so used to a 680 Odyssey dry cel (in another car) needing a charge after a long weekend I've forgotten what wet batteries can do.

If all cells are strong, 3 weeks is pushing it considering the ongong drain from some of the electronics in the car. If you have a marginal cell in the battery now, three weeks without a charge could cause that cell to be a continuing issue. I'd keep it on the trickler and the front hood partially open to make sure the battery compartment stays well ventilated. I'm not sure if a trickler charger will charge a dead battery, but a good 110 volt one might.

I would put your car on a Battery Tender trickle charger or a Porsche trickle charger. You can get the parts needed to plug the Battery tender into the cigarette lighter. The factory charger is meant to charge through the cigarette lighter already. I like to pump the tires up to 60 or so lbs and fill up the fuel tank before leaving. If your going away for an extended period of time, it's a good idea to put some Stabil brand fuel stabilizer in the fuel tank too.

A good cover should be breatable, if it isn't, get rid of it, the finish will suffer. I can't remember why, but my shop recommended an 110 volt tickler as the cigarette lighter product is not strong enough. But I suppose as long as the ambient temps are warm, a cig lighter charger might be okay. If you have to run a cord under the front hood, adjust the front compartment light stop so the light shuts off while keeping the hood partially latched but not closed shut.
