Default "cone rash" help

I just did my first Auto X this past weekend (TONS of fun... I'm addicted), except I murdered a few cones with my passenger side stone guard and the "scuff" marks don't seem to want to come off.

Any suggestions or are these just the first "notches on my belt"?

Thanks in advance.

Turtle wax (cleaner wax) seems to dissolve the cone rubs on the paint pretty well. Wax and grease remover (bug and tar remover?) will do it as well but is a bit more agressive. Be sure to wax afterwards if you try that.

Jeff, I use goo gone to remove the rubber from the cones.
After u use goo gone, make sure u apply some wax where u used the goo gone since it wil also remove wax.

If Goo Gone is the same product as Goof Off, be very careful with it around the paint finish, as it may cloud your finish. Ask me how I know...

Mark just said what I was thinking. I never trust strong chems as removers. Use a mild rubbing compound and be safe. Wax right after. Chris

WD40 works well. Just be sure to degrease and re-wax the area.

Nice seeing you out there Jeff!!

The new bug and tar remover (looks like lotion) is great for tire marks and cone rubs.

H-m-m-m-m-m...Sure are a lot of folks here that know about hitting cones. I thought the object was to MISS the cones!

Just joking guys...I've hit a few myself.

One more thing: try using Meguiar's Finesse Cleaner. I've been using to to remove rubber marks from tire debris at the track and find that it works very well. I also used it to bring the life back to a badly oxidized finish on my red 1990 Miata.

I use McGuires Bug and Tar Remover- it works great for cone streaks, rubber tire marks from the track and, of course, bugs and tar.

I recommend the 3M painters tape! Its the blue rolls. You can get it on ebay for insanely cheap. Take 5 minutes and put a little on prone areas. Then you can go have a blast and not worry about hitting a cone. I noticed once I didn't have to worry about a scratch, my driving got a lot better too!

Another option is to try Plexus. If need to get more aggressive use a citrix cleaner like Wurth. Last option is a cleaner like 3M and put a dab of Blue Magic on cotton towel. Do not circular rub. After done use a wax without silicone, like P21, or Blitz.
