Has anyone now found a fix to this? I never got round to it and then we started a big extension/ refurbishment project on the ouse so haven't really thought about it for the last year. Any thoughts very welcome.

Yep - resolved by sending to Palo Alto in California - mine needed a new main board, no light at all but all the numbers were changing OK - cost was $500 including postage. this seems a lot but back then in Feb the exchange rate was neary $2 to the £ and the only solution offered by my Porsche dealer was a new rev counter at over £1000 - back then $2000 so it was a no brainer for me. Very hapy with the service by the way.
