to be honest, this was pretty light on the wallet... one of the primary reasons we did it....leaves a lot of room for slippery sloping...

it's not like finding a 73 RS in a barn, but I do still feel like we got pretty lukcy... one owner car, the thing has been sitting in storage forever, out at a little farm/shop in rural Ft. Worth, TX...

Wow, Jonathan, that is a neat find.

I'd love to see more detailed pictures--BE SURE TO KEEP US UP TO DATE ON THE PROGRESS on the slippery slope.

Hey Jonathan,
Tell you father congrats! I know he has to be so excited.
I want to see this baby in person.
Here's a pic from the other weekend for you and your Dad.

yep, that's him gawking... i think that was the day he got bit by the bug for purchasing an early-model 911... he wasnt really looking for a 912, but the condition of this car was so perfect and price so right that we both became convinced that this 912 was the way to go...

I stopped off at Mayo after. Your Dad would have really been sold on the 912 then.
This is Tom's personal car, one of the wrenches there.

Way to go Jonathan!!!

You and your Dad are going to have fun getting the 912 squared away. Once that's done y'all can drive up to Hot Springs with the Lone Star 912 club and party at our house!

Make sure to join. they are a great bunch of Guys (and Gals). Tell Morrie JoAnne sent ya.

JoAnne, how is it that I am always missing all these fun local/regional events that you put on????

Dad will definitely be joining the Lonestar 912 club...and I think that we will have a lot of fun slowly (lightly) restoring this car to originality.

I will say that driving that car makes one appreciate the older lighter models...although I have never driven a 356, I can imagine the allure better now...

This is a very neat car, a nice find. The black with red interior looks awesome! The 912 registry says 3 percent of the 1966 912's were black. Black is this car's factory color as stamped on the plate inside the driver's door jam.

It's not that it doesn't need ANY work -- all rubber seals are shot, carpeting shot, rear seats and back shelf area shot, probably a lot of mechanical freshing to do escpecially with rubber-based components -- but that gives you some fun stuff to do. The body was straight and solid, and the car was basically unmolested. Still had the original rubber floor mats, tool kit (minus pliers), jack, battery cover, chrome spare with possibly original German Conti tire. The original '66 white sunvisors were in great shape, as was the dash. Coat hangers still there. Nice headliner. All the chrome wheels with hub cabs, including the spare. Everything was as if it hadn't been messed with. Almost no rust except for some light surface stuff in a couple of spots and one dime-sized more aggressive spot under one door sill but no big deal. It still has the original 1966 Nadella halfshafts.

AND... a binder of the original bill of sale and maintenance receipts documenting its original 80k miles and service. Not to mention owners manual, another technical manual plus a couple of boxes of some spares. This is the find everyone hopes for!

The hunt and the acquisition is so exciting. I love it (even if it wasn't me doing the acquiring this time)! This was a great day for me and I know it was for Jon and his dad. They will have many fine times ahead of them enjoying this car and each other.

You've seen some "Before" pics Jonathan posted. Here is a future "After" pic from the 912 Registry site of a car with the same color combo. Sweet!

jonathan ....

what a nice find ... i really like those early 911s ... !! looks GREAT ...
buy what impressed me more is that you really like your dad ...

have you had a so good relation with your old man always ... __?
since you were a young kid, or the relation improved with the years .. ?

i asked you as my son , 10, is a bit rebeld and seems to be our relation is not very ¨ perfect¨ ........ nobody teach me to be a dad, so .. sometimes i feel i am to strict with him .... and the most of the times, discipline do not help friendship too much .... any advise from a happy son ..._???
