Touchy subject matter. Most Porsche owners take the engine undertray off to help keep the engine cooler, especially in the summer. I believe they are mandatory in Europe and can not be removed. Some also believe the undertray improves the aerodynamics at high speeds which Porsche designed it for. you'll get split opnions about that. I don't have one and don't notice any issues at 100mph. However, if you have the dealer take off the undertray, bring it home with you because they cost about $450 US to replace and it will keep the engine clean and somewhat free of road salt during the winter. I assume it snows in Virginia ocassionally.

1. Check the oil, belts, and tire pressures.
2. Remove the undertray (the one under the engine). It just requires a med-large phillips screwdriver. It is there for sound reduction, I believe. It may have some marginal aerodynamic effect, but certainly not at public highway speeds. Mostly it just cooks your valves and possibly other engine/electrical components because it holds in the heat. It also holds in leaks for a while so you don't notice them until they are significant.
3. Invest in a Valentine One and use it!
4. If you have the time, explore some of the roads in NW Arkansas. Believe it or not, these are some of the best twisties in the nation.
Be safe and have fun.

Heard good things about Intercity, although I just spoke with them about getting a car from New Jersey to Washington State. First available with them was September. They are tied up due to a big concours (Pebble Beach?). I'm using Horseless Carriage. I'll let you know how it goes.

I know you are driving, but for others using this thread in the future, InterCity, NEVER use DAS...they handle the masses, not Porsches...InterCity showed up with white gloves quite literally, and shipped the car flat inside an immaculate enclosed trailer, and gave me the driver cell phone. My other car I shipped via DAS and it showed up FILTHY and with a dead battery.
V1 rocks.
Only other advice...search here or find an owner's manual first for how to read the three oil gauges. Will avoid a panic attack as one of the gauges looks like things are REALLY bad when driving, but that is normal. Everyone panics on that first time they see it...might as well read up first.

Just wanted to attest to the great service I got from Demoise Truck-ing who delivered my new daily driver to me this past Monday. Car was shipped coast to coast. Bill & Donny were great to deal with, fair price and the car arrived early with no issues.
BTW..the new daily driver is a 2004 Black Metallic Pearl VW R32.
