Default Rear Back Window Plastic that holds outer seal-help

Does anyone know who or what it replaces the plastic that the rear outer seal on the rear back window fits into? Mine is cracked on one corner and the outer seal pops out now and again. The plastic wraps all the way around the rear window and not sure if the entire window has to be removed to fix this or not.

I went to the Porsche dealership 2x and they ordered the wrong parts both times (I recevied the rubber seals 2x) and after that they couldnt tell me what part it was the 3rd time. They told me to go to a glass shop. Window a glass shop and they where baffled.

Any insight, home remedy, fix or the part # for a 95 C4 Coupe would be appreciated.

95C4,

The plastic chaannel is part of the window frame, so there is not replacement part to order - you'll have to replace the windshield and frame assy for a proper fix. Here's what I did....

Thanks-thats helps tremendously.

Wonder if insurance would cover it as a deductible item??

95C4,

Oh man, you're cracking me up! I think you'd need a brick through the rear w/s for the insurance company to pony up.

I had this problem, I tried glueing the cracks several times to no avail.

A new screen was needed due to damage, and I think as mentioned, this is the only viable soultion.

You could always glue the rubber seal in place.

Besides only having 1 speeding ticket on record when I was 17, never caused and accident or filed a claim, insurance owes me!! The only claim I have had in my entire life is when high winds took out 25 feet of my wooden fence. My deductible was $500, damage was $567 to fix. $67 returned by insurance to me since the age of 16. 21 years of paying insurance and I get $67. WTF!

No big deal, I can live without the outer seal until I feel like putting a new window in.

95C4,

I feel your pain. You can glue the seal in place, as I did, and it will stay in place forever, providing you use the right adhesive and procedure. I did mine over the course of a day or two while the car was garaged, a little section at a time. That was three years ago - still looks perfect.
