After a week's-worth of cleaning, a little re-welding of a support at Midas, and lots of going-out-to-the-garage-to-admire, I finally had a chance today to get together with John (gordo993) and install (with most of the work on John's part) my Fabspeed Supercups with supertrap modified turn-downs.
It was a great learning experience for me! I had never jacked the car up, never been under the car, and John taught me a ton of things.
A quick pic of the car up on 4 supports - that's John looking at what would turn out to be the difficult side.

Once the new exhaust is in, you can see how much space is left (and weight gone).

New exhaust in - old out! Plus I removed a remaining engine tray holder. In addition, my intake trumpet is still "on order" but John happened to have one, yet still has his retractable wing - so he "lent" me his.

So the key question is - how do they sound?
The first time I fired up the car with the un-modified Fabspeed...
It's loud! There is a deep throaty "thwap" and rumble. If you've never heard them before (John has a set on "Trixie" so I knew beforehand what to expect), you should definitely find someone who has a set and listen to them.
The major problem with them for me was the volume aspect.
So, in went the turn-downs...
It's perfect! It is exactly what I've been looking for. All of the rumble, all the improvement aspect, with half the volume.
The drive home put a complete $hit-eating grin on my face. They can be surprisingly quiet at times, and really growl at others. I feel like I'm driving a real sports car - oh wait, I have been... now the experience has exploded exponentially. The overall experience is fabulous.
Here's before - stock mufflers, stock airbox, stock tips.
Engine: idle, 2000 RPM, 3000, idle, 4000
Porsche 993 stock muffler
And, now after - Fabspeed Supercups with supertrap modified turn-downs installed, airbox trumpet.
Engine: idle, 2000 RPM, 3000, idle, 4000
Porsche 993 Fabspeed with supertrap-turndowns
Once again, a huge thank you to John (gordo993) for all his help!

I just installed mine about 3 months ago as well. Funny as the drivers side was the hardest for me too. Love the sound. I don't have the turn downs so I should look into them. Do you have a pic of the rear with the turn downs on? I'd love to see what they look like on.
Congrats and enjoy!

mac993 - sorry, no pic yet - I'll add one when it stops raining here. Basically all you see is the rounded face of the turn-down - they are inserted into the pipes backwards from the normal "cobra fang" direction. The turn-down portion has been removed and the supertraps welded at that point.
To all those who have PM'd - the resonances or ringing of the Fabspeeds that usually happens in the 2400-2800 rpm range, and makes driving in 6th (for legal highway speeds) intolerable - they are GONE!

Russ- Thanks, look foward to the pics. As for the resonances being gone, is this because of the turn downs or a new type of supercups. I love mine and have learned to "live" in a higher gear but would love to knock down that drown at 2800 rpm.
