Default OT: My Thesis

Friends,

Many of you I have known for a long time, going on 6 years. You've been with me through my need for a 993. My discovery of my 993. It's move out west and mods and beyond. You might even remember a trailer I showed you for a car mod tv show I was working on (this was before RIDES made it to the air.) Unfortunately my timing was about a year off on that one but it would have been a fun show to make had it been picked up.

So I am writing this post to tell any of you who might be interested, my thesis film has been accepted to a couple of film festivals that are coming up.
--It is a short character driven action film about a young thief with a terminal illness. He would rather die as a criminal than live as a patient.
-- The film was largely financed by Boomer Esiason and his foundation for cystic fibrosis (which is also the same disease our main character has.) and also by the Sloan Foundation (we won a major production award based on the script.)

If you have any interest, email me or PM me and I will send you the info on location and time of festivals coming up. Again, I only post this because I thought some of you may be interested in seeing it. My 993 does have a cameo in the movie

Right now it is scheduled to play in:
Oakland, CA
Hollywood, CA
Palm Springs, CA
Austin, TX
Sacramento, CA

I hope there will be even more cities and we are waiting to hear from other festivals. I can't promise that I am going to make it to all the festivals but I am going to try. It gets expensive traveling to all those cities
-- So if your curious to see what a 35mm Thesis film from the American Film Institute looks and sounds like (dolby digital 5.1 surround sound mix) drop me a line and I'll send you the info. It's a 21 min short. I directed it.
The title is:
The Pros and Cons of Breathing

Thanks again for all your support.
- B

p.s. not every showing is a 35mm film print. Some show on DVD or HD because not every festival is equipped to handle film..

How: Sit in your car, or on a chair (yours or ours), and watch movies "magically" projected onto a giant screen. Sound is broadcast into your car or boom box using the wonder of frequency modulation ("FM") — in stereo!

Congratulations!
not sure if the film is designed to raise funds, or if it's about getting a message out, or just getting people to see your work, but you might upload to Google Video, You Tube, etc and get it going virally.

The volumes pumping through those distribution channels is just massive.

wow, thanks for the great response.

Tony, it will be playing at the Fantastic Fest in Austin. I don't have a showtime or date yet but the festival is:
www.fantasticfest.com

I will update you when I have our showing locked down.

Froogle Yankee, the purpose of the film was to get my *** out of film school with a MFA.. Seriously though, it is for people to see our work. It's not really a "feel good" movie. It's more of a "dark" "hard" look at terminal illness.

Internet video is great but would prefer people to see it on a 50 ft. screen in dolby surround. Maybe in the future though we will upload it to the net.

Doug, no showing scheduled for Minneaplis yet. But again, we are still waiting to hear back from about 60 festivals.
