I really don't know what they can do to improve it
they could make it look more like a 993 and less like a 996...oh wait, that's what they did!

I'd love to jump into a new 997GT3, seems they've made it a little more suitable for us street / track guys. The articles I've read have been all thumbs UP! Maybe turn mine into track only

There is simply no comparison. The GT3 is a better car, and more fun, in every way.

I see I have a few like minded friends out there. The body style of the 997 does look back to the design oh the 993 and with the addition Porsche PSM it will ease the kidney strain on longer trips. From what I can tell from the many web sites out there, this will be one of the most nimble Porsches in years. My own needs are similar to many on this site. I will see 3 or 4 autocross per year, 2 or 3 track days and the rest pleasure driving. All and all this probably adds up to less then 3000 miles a year. I hope that the long term investment in this car will be reasonably low and it will have stellar resale. In answer to the Turbo question; I think it will be a definite super car (+30.000 more) if you have the luxury of the Autobahn for high speed blasts, but in town and on the track I think the GT3 will have the edge. Also the long term costs should be lower IHO.

I have my doubts about ceramic brakes? What do you think?

Correction:

Damn screwy acronyms. PSM is Porsches version of a safety god, what I wanted to say was PASM “Porsche Active Suspension Management) or shock control!
Sorry.

Love the look of the new 997 and GT3, but the new turbo is, in my opinion, not an attractive car. The new side intakes and the rear bumper treatment are just not very elegant. Performance: yes, beauty: no.

All of you should pre-order the 997GT3s now and flood the market with your 993's

all i can say is that i wouldn't turn one away if it was given to me (...because I sure couldnt' afford one of my own -- not even close)... heck, I'd even go for it if someone wanted to trade me their GT3 for my 993 (yes, I think the GT3 is a great car and that 997 GT3 is just making me wonder how it compares to the 996 GT3)

Yes, this is the trick I'd like to accomplish too.

I should have said I desired the Carrera GT too, but it's a little bit out of my realistic price range.

There is absolutely no doubt, especially in the minds of those on this board, that a 993 is a special car, and one deserving even a special spot in the historical annals of Porsche. But if a 993 is "special," then a GT3 is special-er

A 996 GT3 gets me excited, and a 997 version even more so. Since the expense of either is clearly out of my reach, I will bask in the glory of my 993 and resident Trackmeister. And there is my point: the 993 is "my" GT3, and the SC my plaything; the former elicits awe and reverence, the latter grins and excitement. So if you have the means, get the 997GT3. Drive it and enjoy it. If you really love it, keep it. And if you ever get the hankering for another flavor, find yourself a fine 993 to compliment your stable. You're in a fine place to be in such a "dilemma."

Edward
