Default Gear Oil Fill quanity

I have a 96 993 C2 6 speed. How many litres of gear oil do I need to do a gear oil change?

I also trust it uses 75W90 synthetic.

Thanks
Ron

Hi Ron,

Buy 4 litres ...Mobil1 75w/90 is widely available. You will be left with about 1/2 a bottle in the end, IIRC.

Default Redline?

Anyone recommend Redline?

Thanks again

Yep, 75W90 but I used Swepco. I bought a gallon and had a little less than a quart left when it was full. A noticable improvement in shift smoothness!

All depends on your gearbox condition. If you have 75k worn out syncros like me then Swepco works the best so far. Otherwise Redline and Mobile 1 are the products of choice. Neither of these worked for me and actually made things worse, especially in cold weather.

Think I had swepco in my box with 60 k miles and difficult 1 2 shifting when cold. Went with the MTLR product that Robin recommended (do a quick search) and that pretty much resolved the cold shift problem. Shifting is still very good now in the hot weather.
