Chrome C2 Cup Wheels???
#2
I won't go into details what I think about chrome wheels in Porsches but FYI, aluminum wheels when chromed lose little bit of their strength.
Have you concidered polished aluminum aftermarket wheels instead? Kinesis, Fikse etc. makes nice wheels that are lighter & stronger & can be had with either polished lip or completely polished.

If you want chrome, try to buy them used, since they're essentially worthless. If you could find some they'd cost like $13 plus shipping. Or thereabouts. Might wanna post a "wanted to buy" thread in the Classifieds forum.
BTW, I don't think the factory did chroming, did they??

To answer your question, go with factory chrome if you can--that way you'll have your old wheels if you decide to switch back. To not answer your question, go with polished wheels--they look way better.

AFAIK, there were no "factory" chrome wheels for good reasons: they add needless unsprung weight & weaken the wheel. IMO, they also cheapen the refined, no gaudy chrome, look of a 993.

Mine were chromed when I bought it, and am looking to change. I like the chrome, but like others better. Interested in purchase? I just mounted some Bridgestone RE750s maybe 1000 miles ago? I'd look up my records to be sure, but these tires have no track/autoX on them.

ATTENTION: Service Manager/Service Technician
This bulletin supersedes Technical Bulletin Group 4, Number 8705, Book D, page 163.
Models Affected: All
General Information: Porsche does not approve of chrome plating Porsche aluminum road wheels.
Corrosion tests by PAG on chrome plated aluminum wheels have shown heavy pitting, especially with winter use.
The high difference in potential between the base metal of the wheel and the plating material (chrome, nickel) may cause pitting and could reduce wheel strength.
Polishing road wheels is an acceptable alternative. When polished, the wheel's protective coating is removed. To avoid corrosion and discoloration, wheel maintenance will need to be increased.
Warranty Information: Corrosion and/or discoloration due to a lack of maintenance are not a warranty matter.
Important Note: Please make a copy of this bulletin and give to your dealership's Sales Manager and General Manager.

Those look chromed.
My car came with 18" chrome technology rims, I switched them to 17" stock cups. Very happy. My advice to you is to keep the rims you have and put the money toward a ROW height suspension.

I agree with the comment of lowering your car instead. Then later on get different wheels.
Let some time go by and I think you might realize chrome wheels aren't the best look for 993s.
