I will sooner rather than later be having the clutch replaced. Its not slipping or anything, but 78k miles tells me it wont be long. Any advice about where to take it in Atlanta?
Also, should I buy the clutch (so I know what is being installed) or buy from the shop that does the work?

This is the response I received when I asked the same questions about a month ago.

Good luck

Jordan

Pat Collins at NorthEast Foreign car is great and has been around Porsches for a long time--770-448-3338. His shop is in Old Norcross and he is a great guy. Tell him Cole told you to call. He should know of several body shops--there is a place called AutoGlo in Tucker that is painting my M5 as we speak--they had 3 Ferraris, an Aston Martin, and a Lamborghini Gallardo onsite when I went to check on her a few days ago--770-423-4440

Slider,

Give the guys at Kinetic Speed Shop, www.kssmotorsports.com, a call. They have some great Porsche technicians and support several Porsche street and race cars. They just did my clutch and it is perfect. If nothing else, the place is worth seeing. It is really incredible.

Darn - I was just in ATL a few weeks ago and saw Kinetic Speed Shop on my way to Lake Lanier Islands. It looked like an awesome shop on the outside and had assumed that it was a high-performance boat modifier. I wish I knew more about them when I was there, I would have loved to see the inside.....

Thanks for the responses.

Next Day:

I'm an idiot...I had posted a similar request and decided to take a quick look at responses. Saw "Atlanta" on this thread and assumed it was mine. Hence, my response, which makes absolutely NO sense

Apologies...

TMc

Performance Imports is also good--Shattergard had referenced my post about Pat Collins--he services my 356, 911, and BMW. Good guy. Small shop, so getting in may be a problem, but Perf Imports is right down the road and has more lifts if you need something done quicker.

Where in Atlanta is Pat Collins located? Is he associated with a shop?

Thanks,
Hank

Curious- I have heard the name Pat Collins a few times before and was curious to find -out if he took could care of the car cosmeticly as well as mechanicly ie: paper floor mats, carefull of with the paint etc. I have had Techs touch my interior who were covered in oil.

Any feedback would be helpful

Thanks

Pat is in Norcross, and his shop is called Northeast Foreign Car. He is off Magnolia St. in Old Norcross. Shattergard--He has never dirtied any of my interiors, but you aren't going to get the plastic seat cover and paper floormats either--he is an old-school mechanic who just knows how to wrench. I would think that the dealership is probably one of the only places who will put the plastic and mats on your car and keep a squeaky-clean shop...

Pat manages to do what he does with out getting dirty. He works for some very picky people. You can trust what ever he says.

Completely agree--In fact, your 911/993 would be one of the cheaper cars that he works on believe me. I have seen Pre-A cars, 356 Speedsters, Ferrari 550 Maranellos, and pre-war Mercedes in there.
