Default Can one turn off the low oil level warning on 98 c4s?

I am considering purchasing a car and the po said that he always just overrode any warning lights by pressing a button on the console. He claims they were always for things like low washer fluid etc...

Is there even a low oil warning light in these cars?

thanks!

If I were you, I would not mess around with the warning lights! There is indeed an low oil warning light, and a low oil pressure warning light, and oil temperature warning light as well. The oil in your 911 the most important component because it lubricates and cools down the engine, preventing it from dying prematurely. Better keep an eye on it...

Except for the washer fluid resevoir, none of the warning lights are superfluous. It really isn't an issue of concern, IMO.

I guess I should restate my question: can you override this low oil warning?

thanks-

I think he's just talking about the button that turns the big "i" light off when you're running out of fuel, washer fluid etc.

yes flying finn, that is exactly what I am referring to? Is that the light that also shows up when you have low oil and can that be overriden??

Also, how low does the oil level need to get before you get a warning light?

Troppo -

FYI, if there is a warning, there will be two lights that come on--one is the specific warning light and the other is the master warning light. The master warning light can be turned off via the (!) button on the console, however the specific warning light will remain illuminated until addressed.

and - the ! button only extinguishes the master light until the car is shut off. When it is started the next time, the master light will be on again (and can be turned off again.

There is no oil level warning light, only one for low oil pressure. The warning lights are broken down into the three priority levels based on severity and whether or not the central warning light "!" and warning buzzer can be canceled. Warning lights and their function are covered in detail in the owners manual (if you have one).

Never wanted to test my low oil level warning and if I'm not smoking something serious, there is no low oil level warning, only pressure.

EDIT: I guess it pays to read all the replies before replying... JasonAndreas (as usual) already gave a perfect explanation re: low oil level.

Don't know of any button to press to override any warning lights.
