Default 320mm vs. 340mm Steering Wheel

Ever since I helped Tony install his new FVD 340mm thick steering wheel I have been looking at them. And, yes, this would be my fifth steering wheel. In my searching I have found that they also sell 320mm wheels for our cars. Would this be too small? I am thinking that at 6-2 and sitting rather high in the seat the 320mm may block some of the instruments. Any thoughts?

With my 340, I can only see half the speedo and some of the oil guages are hard to see. I'd think that a 320 would only really allow you to view the tach. Of course you could always switch to a MoTeC or AiM data system and dash and have all the information in a smaller space ...

I've seen the 320 too . Its too small and it obstructs the instruments. The 340mm its perfect.

Chuck,

Thanks again sir for your help on installing my SW... actually thanks for intsalling my SW.

I think that 320 is too small... Also when you're looking check with Patrick (turbo138) as he went directly to the manufacturer and got a fairly good price.

Good Luck..

Scott... you should do the same bruddah

Had a 320 on the 85 Carrera... 320 is very small. It suited the Carrera well, but that was a track beast. For a street car I think it's too small.

don't the smaller wheels reduce steering sensitivity and control? wouldn't the stock 365 be best for the steering system in the 993? i could be wrong about this, but i thought you gave up some 'mechanical' advantage by going with a smaller radius wheel (takes more effort to do same thing).

Chuck- Shoot me a PM should you want a FVD 340 like Tonys. I just happen to know of a guy who has one in the box new w/ hub! Also has the socketed T30 bit to remove your old.

You might lose a little finesse, but the quicker steering is great on the track when you're pushing it.

Thanks for the offer, but I'll pass. I would love to have that wheel but I am looking at others also. PM also sent.
