Like many here ( I did a search) IMO the stock shifter has room for improvement (on a car that doesn't need much overall, but I digress) in terms of appearance and functionality. That said:
1. Which short shifter is best for a C4S- irrespective of price?
2.Because its a "4" is it a major effort to change?
3. The ****- most people use RS, Ruf or other Porsche specific *****- will others work? I have a Momo generic carbon and grey one that would look good I think. Do I have to cut the gaiter off my existing **** and somehow fix to the new one?
4. Anyone done either or both of these that can weigh in?
TIA

I believe the OEM version from Gert is the best. However, on our models room has to be made in the tunnel given they are 4WD - not a major deal, but an extra step. I posted a question about this a while back ago: https://rennlist.com/forums/993-forum/231831-short-shifter-for-ss-hammer-required.html.

Sir- thank you!
So yours is installed and you follow the non-hammer route. Are you happy with the install and the result?

Actually I haven't installed one yet as I am still a little confused - based on the mixed messages I received in reply to my post.

Gert just says make a dimple in the cover plate but the bushing inversion method has got to be worth a try. It sounds very trick.

I don't think typical shift ***** will work since our lever is rectangular. I bought a Boxster/996 **** and installed it. The only problem there is that the boot is too small, so I cut most of it off then stitched it onto my existing boot with a heavy needle and thread. Some people just use tie wraps.
