Default cabriolet roof cables

My roof always got caught on the passenger side just as you would press the down button,So I always reached over and hit just above the latch and "wallla" it popped loose and she came down,,Well a couple of days ago I was not quick enough and the roof started to twist........After I hit above the latch it freed but only went back half way,, I managed to close the 'SON OF A B...." AND TOOK IT TO MY GARAGE The man there said that the cable square thing came out of some kind of socket thing and something turned and ruined my cables .....$900.00.Tommorow I will get the break down and a quote sheet explaining things more clearly,, I will get the car back with the roof in "manual mode" untill I can fix it in a few months..Once I get the break down I may call Sunset Imports and see if I could get the parts cheaper than My guy has quote me. Any thoughts guys ...or girls

Do a search on this site...there was a recall on the cabs concerning the motors...just had mine done this week at the dealership. Or you just might call the dealership and see if there is a recall on your vehicle. Hope this helps.

The recall is for the top locking motors.

Rear cables stretch over time and they pop out of the socket. These are the motors that are behind the rear seats. They are a bitch to change.

Someone here went thru the process and documented it. Do a search and you'll see what's involved.

This sounds less like a motors issue and more of an alignment and worn cable issue (which are linked). The 993 cab top is very finicky on alignment adjustments IMHO.

Did you ever get your cables? If so, where?
I need two cables for a 1990 944 S2 Cab.
Thanks,
Bob.

Many clubs have a "first time out" sort of different rule book.
