Looks pretty darn cool. Might have to get it and see what it will do.

I thought so too, but was hoping someone on the list had some experience with it before I shell out the $200??

Well I dove in head first and got the tool. So far not so good

The installation of the software went perfect. Plugged it into my car and thats where things just go nowhere. In the software there is a hotbutton to read the ECU and codes. It goes to the mode of searching for faults and freezes up.

I've got an email into the makers, but so far I'm not impressed.

I'll keep you posted though.

Looks like a cool tool, pending John's results. One question: under Model/Feature Matrix, it lists "No" under the Actual Values column. Does this mean you cannot see the real/current value of the modules being measured?

Looks like for the 993 its a simple fault code reader ?
With free software available on the 964 forum why bother ??

I ended up buying it too, but have not yet brought my laptop home to try it out ... I hope John (slant911) gets some answers before I take it out of the box :-(

I talked to a tech support guy today who is writing a new download for me to try. Apparently the 98' model years aren't working so good with their product. So Doug you may have ZERO issues on a 96'.

I didn't have the time to wait for the new download so I am going to do the download tonight and give it a shot. Beyond that it will be going back as I don't feel like being a guniea pig.

The guys on the 996 board posted information about this device couple month ago, I checked into it as I was interested in the Porsche proprietary codes to reset the airbag light and the read the faults in the factory alarm system.

After e-mailing them I found that the specific functions that i needed was not avaliable yet, so I didn't purchase one.

I have been using a $100 OBD-2 reader tool from www.obd-2.com using my laptop, it reads, reset code, and records all motor functions. So works great for me so far... but still need to relie on a factory pst-2 for other porsche specific stuff.

Just make sure that the immobilizer is OFF before you try and do any OBD-ii code reading. If it's ON -- the car's 'puter will NOT 'talk' to anything.

G.

(For those of u getting a 'state inspection' -- make sure you TELL your mechanic / inspection station to 'blip' the FOB *before* they connect their machine !)

Well this was a complete waste of time and money.

After di*king with their product for a couple of days and various different downloads and what not it still won't read the ECU.

To add insult to my cost they blame MY CAR and not their crappy product. The response was that they were doing me a favor with the different downloads etc... to help fix my car. There isn't a damn thing wrong with my car. When I hook up my cheapie Pep Boys OBD scanner it reads fine. Had the Porsche tool scan the car this morning just to be sure and it also reads fine.

What a complete joke. Don't waste your money.

Like Geoff says, buy a VAG-COM compatible OBD2 scanner instead of generic OBD2 unit that way you can use the 964 software to read the other (ABS/AirBag/Alarm/CCU) control units and not just the DME unit. Just like a PST2...
