Default Are we on some sort of lockdown?

I've been off the board for the better part of a month because of a TDY so forgive me if I've missed something major.
Is it just me or am I seeing quite a few threads that have been locked for reasons unknown?

I was wondering the same thing, too. A thread on the OT board was locked for some reason.

Are you sure people aren't locking them on their own. The original poster has tools to lock threads. Maybe they felt the topic was done.

I didn't know that. Tony, did you lock your own thread?

BTW, the Replica Turbo Twist Wheels thread was locked after the original poster asked a question. Maybe he hit the wrong box by mistake?

If you are asking me about my recent thread in OT, yes I locked it. I got what i needed and figured there was no need for further discussion.

You can also reopen a thread. If you go to the top to where the first post is in a thread, there is a dropdown link called "thread tools." You can do all kinds of stuff from there.

I've noticed people closing threads if if starts getting too crazy or off-subject. Which is good, better to take action than let posts go nuts and then have issues with people getting heated. Helps make the moderators life easier too.

At least on the 993 forum, I think Tony (Blue S2) may have the answer.

Looking back at the last 5 pages of threads, there are 3 locked threads - 2 of them locked by the Member who originally started the thread.

HAHA, yeah...other areas may just be Moderators taking action for obvious reasons! The OT section, and *occasionally* the 944 section gets a little *rowdy.*

Unless we have supernatural phenomenon taking place on Rennlist! Porsche Purists of days past haunting the boards for annoying threads that have been discussed to the world's end every week and have taken 200mb of space in the archives!!!! ::cue dissonant orchestration::

Well its either a moderator, John D. & Jen ,or the original thread-starter. I believe those are the only ones able to control a thread.

I get a few extra options in the "Thread Tools" drop down menu.

I don't think Member's are able to determine who locked a thread.
