Does anyone know is there is a weight difference between model years. Some research on the interenet came back as:

3305 lbs 1997 993 coupe
3030 lbs 1996 993 coupe
3300 lbs 993 Twin Turbo

Any truth to these numbers?

It doesn't surprise me at all. The 996's have been around for 7 years now and the overwhelming majority of people I meet (both P-car owners and non-owners) prefer the 993 for various reasons. This is just my personal experience.

Here's the add

and part of the description:

This is the only C2S out there on the market that has these option, colors and mileage, there are currently two 1997 C2S for sale that have similar mileage but both are Tiptronics. The 993C2S was only produced in 1997 and 1998. In those two year there were 1,750 built and 1,100 were Tiptronics. So there are only 650 6-spd. 993C2S's out there. I had to pay the world for this car but it was worth it. One for the true collector or enthusiast.
Wow, they are asking $72K for that C2S? That has to be one of the highest asking prices I've seen for both S-bodied 993s (C4S & C2S).

paying that kind of $ for C2S doesn't make sense (imo). the C4S is more car for less $ and you can get a non-S version for 1/2 that amount...
