Question Porsche Immobilizer

My 993 comes with a Porsche Immobilizer System. It is a small chip key that you have to slot in before starting the car.
I was wondering; is there a way that I could by pass this function in case I ever lose the chip key? (God forbid)

Thx

The 993 Porsche DriveBlock system does not use a key with a chip.

What I meant by 'Key with a chip' is this small rectangle black plastic thing with a chip inside. I can't start the car before putting it into the slot.

Thx

The 993 doesn't require you to put a key fob into a slot. You mean the key?

The 993 immobilizer is a keyfob gizmo that is seperate from the key. When you put the key in, and rotate it to the on position, there should be a picture of the immbolizer on the warning light in the clock. If you push the button on the immoblizer, the warning light will go out and the car can then be started. A minor pain in the ***. The immobilizer timer is about 3 minutes, and starts up when you remove the key from the ignition. One trick is to simply leave the key in while filling up for gas and such, so you don't need to go thru the button push. The immobilizer is also disabled for about 3 minutes after you unlock the car doors (using the same button on the fob).

Is this the immobilzer that you are describing? Then no, it can't be turned off.

If your car has the owners manual, this device and procedure is clearly described within.

Thank You for your help. I appreciate it.

Smoking dope is usually a good thing but maybe not while composing threads for this board.

Default Why are you offended....?....

When I wrote " ....not too many people....".. I wasn't referring to anyone in this forum. The "too many people" was for most of my Car-Nut friends.
My sincere apology if I hurt anyone's feeling. I guess next time I REALLY have to be careful about what I about to ask.

Good day.

Really, then you must not have a real Porsche because it worked on my 97 CAB.

Or it could be a user error.
