Default 1995 993 Alarm Control Unit

Okay just bought a 1995 993. The power locks dont seem to work. I also don't have a key fob. So I guess thats one reason. 2nd thing is, the control unit under the passenger seat. Totally destroyed with water damage. The control unit has the numbers 928 618 260 01 . Is this the correct unit? 928 means 928? Shouldn't I have a 911 part number? If I replace this unit and buy a key fob would it work after programming. The manual has a section on programming also.

I'm also trying to troubleshoot the cruise control unit as it doesn't work either. Fixing all the small issues the car has.. Love the car.

Thanks.

928 618 260.02 is what I had in mine and then I replaced it with another number that worked fine.
Yes you have the correct system for the 95 993
Several other units also work fine. If you have access to a shop that works on these cars they usually stock used units. Price used working is about $200. Expect to pay about $80 for a key fob and
find someone to program it or try the instructions on the DIY page. Good luck, Chris

1995 models don't come with key fobs except, I think, some late 1995 builds. I don't know if that 928 part number has an accompanying fob.

If it doesnt come with a fob, how do you turn it off? The main problem I'm having is I cannot lock the doors unless I go outside with the key and manually lock the doors. Same thing with opening the doors I have to manually with the key open it. My car has the LED's on the top of the door and of course they dont work as the brain is fried. Just trying to put it back to factory.

Any additional help would be appriciated.

Thanks
dave

Other than the LED's not working, your alarm & locking system seems to be functioning properly. Some of us (like me) have added RKE (remote keyless entry) since our 1995's don't come with it. Search on RKE and you'll learn about some aftermarket systems we used as well as installation steps.

However, if you have an immobilizer (on a few late 95 builds) then you should also have a key fob that remotely opens the doors and sets the immobilizer. But now that I think of it, you can't possibly have an immobilizer without a fob because you'd never be able to start your car!

As Eric stated, your car must be an early 95' build because it operates without the fob.
My 993 was one of the last 1995's built and has the Immobilizer and key fob which controls the central locking system.
I'm not sure how to upgrade your 95 to factory late 95 or newer specs, but you still can add aftermarket keyless entry without too much grief or $'s.
Good Luck,

My 95 did not come with a FOB. Previous Owner (PO) put an aftermarket alarm that uses the locks, LED and start disable of factory system. The aftermarket adds shock sensor and remotes... Probably the cheapest way to upgrade and get state of the art remote/alarm system....

Okay today I unplugged the alarm control unit "928 618 260 01" and the car would not start. granted this system is useless because of the water damage. I'm assuming that it has a pair of wires that loops when you plug it in which allows me to start it. I'm not sure if my car is a late model 95 or not. Just because I dont have the fobs doesn't mean it never came with them. Heck I only got one key with this car. So its very possible it had fobs.. Any way to tell. What is the part number of the control unit that uses the fobs.. or maybe I should say.. what is the part number of the alarm unit in the later model 95's.

Thanks,
dave
