Why isn't this 1997 993 C2 selling on Ebay?

(item # 4630132414) I think I've seen it listed before but no one bought it. It was on auto-trader also. The seller sent me the carfax and it comes up clean, but I'm still skeptical. Does anybody have the history of this vehicle? Anyone know why it's not selling? Any help would be great. Thanks!

Well... Only 7 auctions completed and an 88% feedback rating could be the answer. That would scare me away.

hmm.. that car is at a local chicagoland dealership..

We went to see a car there before (not that one) but a different 993.. and it had very obvious body work that the saleman swore up and down didn't exist (said we weren't seeing it right)

..I'd guess another rennlister here lives close to that dealership and could check it out if you were really interested (for me its over an hour drive away and after the memory of that other one, it wouldn't surpise me if it has an undocumented repair)..

Do you guys realize that carmax only shows up if it was an insurance claim? If someone pays for a repair out of pocket (no police report, no insurance claim) that it NEVER shows up on CarFax.. OOOPS

While I am also surprised that this car has no bids yet, it might have had more activity on it if it was black, blue, silver or red. There are also 3 more days left to bid.

Wonder why all mechanical components are reported to be "excellent", except the frame?

Look at the pictures with the steering wheel... it looks like a brand new airbag. Rest of the steering wheel is nice and shiny. Also, look at the front bumper, different shade of green...

I agree it looks like it's been pranged in the nose with that bumper not matching and how do you explain away a new airbag?

AND... it has a V6... (see description)

That'd scare me away.

yeah but our cars are getting older.. maybe the airbag light went on and it had to be replaced just because of age?

...and I thought the flex agent in the bumper skins makes them appear slightly different in color?

..mind you, I'm NOT trying to explain away (just playing devils advocate here).. I'm sure seeing the car in person would confirm or deny body work easily enough..

Bidding is a thing you do the last few seconds otherwise you're just wasting everyone's money.
It'll probably go up to $36K and he probably has a reserve of $38K Chris

Cabrio993 is right on the money -- that car has been hit. I'd steer clear of dealers in any case. Take your time and buy from an owner. Far better off.

its also missing the stone guards on the sides. It would be interesting to see an underhood pic to see if all the stickers are there. At any rate, this car proly has some stories to tell....

I called the dealership. The sales person told me the front bumper had been repainted, and that they were looking for $35000.
