Where are 993 owners putting Subwoofers

yeah, but.. negativity is what makes some of the most interesting posts!! honestly- it's rare that I laugh out loud at the 993 forum posts, but the replies in thread were peppered with good humor.. I have tried to get decent sound in my prior 964 with subs and separates and have met marginal results. The system compromised the small interior and started to detract form the overall P-Car experience. In the 993, I have opted for decent separates in the doors with the crossovers in the doors as well- I found a small and efficient amp to run the separates and placed it under the passenger seat. No subs. nothing in the boot/trunk. Minimal wiring. The 911 layout is not the best car for a serious stereo setup.. It's a performance sports car. you can have something that relays the traffic conditions well, and plays steely dan okay, but the overall noise generated by low profile tires and a stiff suspension alone (and deteriorating sound deadening stuff) will add so much noise to your music, that the music needs to be turned up to a point where it is no longer enjoyable just to overcome the sound floor.. (and this is coming form an ex-club DJ who writes music and has tennitus) just forgo the battle, maybe do something with the head or existing speakers, but leave the subs and the big amps and the wiring and the 10cd changer in the boot and all the extra junk out of the car.. If I need some good sound on long trips, I opt for Sony's MDR in-ear monitors with my iPod.. they block out most other noise and I can open the sunroof!

Disagree, The smaller area makes for a better staging area as far as performance stereos and performance cars go but I guess good sound is subjective. I have heard some excellent stereo systems in 911sc, 993's and 996's. It all has to do with good speakers, good head unit and a great amp. The stuff you can buy at the big box stores make for ok stuff but I could not put that stuff in my car...I had to go with the german made stuff excluding the head unit. I love the sound of the car but I also like the clean sound of an excellent sound system. Everyone has an opinion and so be it but I am not one to ditch on someone if they get all excited from the sound of the car...but the bottom line is...it's a car and I paid for it so it is mine to put whatever into it. I will say I think some of us on here are past the days of doing woofers and amps that will make the change rattle in the ashtray...I hope!

My car is so loud, especially at rpm, that I can't really appreciate "quality" audio. That's why my subs are also in the HT and my son's car.
But I don't have a stop/go kind of driving opportunity. Wouldn't be surprised if one spends alot of time sitting in traffic, a nice system would make a difference.

I currently have a Pioneer P8000R deck, ADS 640 Amp, Pioneer 10 CD changer, ADS front and rear speakers, XM with a dock-have XM in all my vehicles and just pull out the receiver. The whole system with the window roll up/down moonroof close cost a little chunck of change. A speaker change will suffice but also wanted a little more quality and just checking on everyone's opinion. As it sits today with 2 speakers blown everything sounds like crap (sounds awesome when the speakers arent blown) so the sound of a 993 motor, Fabspeed air box and Mille Miglia exhaust is music to my ears.

I went with the caraudioinnovations subs and I have to say the system that Rod recommends is excellent and the sound is very well controlled. I am very, very pleased with the results.

You won't need woofers anymore if.......
you just get a set of Fabspeed SuperCups. With these on the car, you'll be listening to your 993 engine's song! No woories about too much conversation in the car in the event some Chatty Kathy is riding in the passenger seat...you need little notebooks, or perhaps develop some level of skill at semaphore!

My car has the original 23 watts of flapping paper, so I dont listen to it often. Although side two of Rush's Moving Pictures would be great to listen to while at track events
