viperbob has 21mm hazet and a homemade 22mm cut-out socket. try PMing Viperbob. He's very helpful.

David -

Are these the ones you got from Viperbob? (Sorry, I can't remember if you were part of the GroupBuy).

If so, Bob has made available his Hazets (actually, one Hazet and two deep sockets that have their sides cut open) to those who participated in the GB. I had them first and then sent them to Stresser (Steve Tresser). AFAIK, he still has them. You might want to contact VB and see if they are available and, if so, see if Steve could overnight them to you.

I'd be reluctant to buy them, considering they are $56 each and you probably won't ever use them again.

Good luck.

Edit - looks like Steve has returned them to VB.

or you could do what I did - go to Sears, buy a couple of deep sockets in the right size and then spend half an hour with a cutting wheel in a die grinder to make the windows while watching Long Beach

Hi David,

You might be able to get them from Mark (BraveHeart). He is installing his HDs right now. Just got a cursing email from him this AM as a matter of fact After he is done, there is no problem with him sending them to you.

If you have an impact or an electric gun you can easily get off the 21mm nut on the old shocks in the front. Even without it, a good visegrip on the shaft and a 21mm socket will get it off. You will need a 22mm to get the new one on, especially with the PSS9s...

In a pinch, you can hold the 21mm socket with vise grips and lossen/tighten the strut with a 7mm allen wrench/socket. I used this method on my Bilstein HDs, I assume it would work on the PSS9s as well.

How hard is it to cut a socket? Would any decent machine shop be able to make such a cut?

I've got a Bosch 4 1/2'' angle grinder that spins at something like 10,000 rpm and I'm betting I can cut windows in a 22 mm socket in five minutes. I'll report to you guys after I do so. I bet a high-carbon blade chucked in a Sawzall would also work.

Mark -

FYI, once you get the fronts retorqued and the rears off, you don't need the Hazets anymore.

But, you won't be able to torque appropriately with this method.
